The Cascade Mountain Range is the highest, and certainly one of the most beautiful, areas in Oregon. Located to the east of the Willamette River,the Cascades tower along the horizon with Mt. Hood rising above all the others. Mt. Hood sits majestically on the eastern skyline covered in a white blanket of snow and is a magnificent backdrop for the City of Portland. Every year people come to ski or view the incredible scenery that is abundant throughout the Mount Hood area. Numerous ski resorts are located on the mountain, but the most widely known is Timberline Lodge, a popular ski lodge on Mt. Hood that acts as hotel, restaurant and recreational facility.
